Still a good story teller even if the stories are a little shorter than others.
I have enjoyed this mystery series very much. "Masquerade of Saints" is the third book. I had a little trouble keeping up with new and old characters. This book hold a lot of twists and spins. I recommend every book in this series. Thanks, Nicole!
Really surprised at the level of quality writing. The story was well thought out, interesting, and didn't bog you down with unnecessary dialog just to fill the pages. I will be following Author Nicole Loughan, from now on.
I really enjoyed the first two books in Nicole Loughan’s Saints series. Unfortunately, she lost me with book three, A Masquerade of Saints. This book is poorly constructed, the plot is just way over-the-top and the characters, even Fanchon, are just too tedious and obnoxious.
Fanchon Deveroux is now living in New Orleans, trying to make a living as a musician. She is also trying to track down her birth family. When she finally meets them at a big event, somebody tries to kill two of them and Fanchon is the prime suspect. This family may be well-to-do a very prominent in New Orleans, but they aren’t nice people. Once again, Fanchon’s friend, Beau, helps her solve the crime. Once again, New York City police detective Bruce Banyan is involved for no good reason. And once again, some of the events in A Masquerade of Saints can be tied to book one, To Murder a Saint. The ending to this novel was just such a stretch. Do we really believe that a person could attend a Mardi Gras ball just days after a kidney transplant? I certainly didn’t.
After reading A Masquerade of Saints, I am sorry to say that I will not be reading any more novels by Nicole Houghan.
I enjoy these characters and the Bayou/New Orleans setting. I felt this one in the series was a little harder to follow; keeping the characters straight past and present. Granted it has been a couple of months since I read the first two in the series.
I really enjoyed it and if you have read the other 2 books that go before this one in the series, you will appreciate the on going tale. This book brings the story to a conclusion while leaving room for further stories set in the New Orleans and neighboring areas.
This is an excellent book about murder deception and redemption. The characters are interesting believable and well developed. The ending is well done.
