Skinny Dipping implies the total submersion or surrendering to those experiences that all women share. Skinny Dipping refers to those women who are not the wallflowers of their own lives, women who experience life to the fullest with all its pleasure and all the pain.
The pain, confusion, seeking, questioning, and yearning expressed through the poems do not equal the sum of any one woman's existence. Rather they are only a small drop in the meandering course of the pool of womanhood. The poems tell the story of survival, of living life to the fullest. Though at times it seems the undercurrent of life is pulling us under, we find a way to continue pushing forward. We are the survivors. This is our story. These are our words. We are skinny dipping in the pool of womanhood.
